Bringing balance to individuals, communities and the land through the power of Spirit.

Welcome to Sacred Centre Healing. I'm Kate and my purpose here is to hold space for others. I am committed to playing my part in unearthing and restoring the ancient wisdom held by this land. I work with Spirit to bring balance and healing to individuals and communities and I honour the old ways. In 2021 I established Sacred Centre Healing as my platform for this work. The name comes from the Centre - the 7th direction of the medicine wheel that I use. The Centre represents the inner sanctum, the point at which all energies converge - a place of pure potential where anything is possible. It is my role to lead you safely into that space so that you can connect to your unique medicine, begin to redream your life and heal through the power of Spirit. I explain the Medicine Wheel in more detail below.

Shamanism

Shamanism is the oldest known form of ritual-based practice. There is historical evidence of it dating from as far back as 30,000 years ago. Shamanism is rooted in the understanding that everything is interconnected. It is the health of these connections on an energetic level that directly impacts the physical world and vice versa. This is a path of creating beauty - of celebrating life amidst the vast spectrum of experience that it brings. Shamanism is practical, rooted in the physical world in order to keep a balance with the spiritual forces. It is a path of ritual and ceremony, through which we learn to expand our horizons whilst simultaneously finding our limits. Shamanism is life-affirming and teaches us how to bring power to our words and actions. Above all it is a path of service, honouring ourselves, our communities and the land which sustains us all.

The Medicine Wheel

The Medicine Wheel is a tool used across shamanic cultures. It helps us to give context and perspective to our human experiences when viewed through the qualities of the directions and their associated elements. We can use the wheel to explore how the elemental qualities are expressed through us as individuals, in our relationships, in our communities and as a broader social collective. It is a compass by which we can navigate our lives.

The Medicine Wheel transforms a story of wounding into a story of healing. We can work to understand how the elemental forces express themselves through our experiences. We can look at where the elements might be out of balance or where there may be a misdirection of their power. Once this is established, we can learn how to restore the balance and bring in the healing.

Any kind of ritual or ceremonial work needs to be held in a strong, safe container and the Medicine Wheel provides this. To open sacred space I use the wheel, calling in the powers of all 7 directions and their associated elements. Medicine wheels vary between cultures and a quick search online will show you just how many variations there are. The medicine wheel that I work with has the directions/elements placed as follows :

East/Fire - the time of birth, initiation, new beginnings, passion, anger, destruction, renewal

South/Water - the time of childhood, vulnerability, emotions, cleansing, fear, indulgence, purity

West/Air - the time of the teenager, thought patterns, independence, ideas, dreams, perspective

North/Earth - the maturity of adulthood, grounding, ancestors, habits, rigidity, suppression

Below/Mother - Nurture, transformation, life force, the feminine, fierceness, suffocation, destruction

Above/Father - Discipline, life force, the masculine, power, tyranny, foresight, disconnection, connection

Centre - Great mystery, everything, nothing, pure potential, dreaming, expansion, limitless
